Crochet, first attempt

I've been wanting to teach myself how to crochet ever since seeing this. Yes, the Babette Blanket, the one that everyone and their mother, sister, and postman is crocheting. Slow down the bandwagon and make room for one more!

I think I need to advance a bit farther along than this, though.
